The ATAS alternative where the real book goes 30 days deep
The short answer
ATAS Market Replay uses the real Level 2 book for only about a day; further back it substitutes generated data. EdgeDepth records the actual order book on 660+ perpetual pairs continuously, so any tick from the last 30 days replays with the real DOM, tape and liquidations, in your browser.
Where the two actually differ.
ATAS is a footprint-analysis powerhouse with replay attached. EdgeDepth is a recorder first: replay of the real book is the core of the product, not a mode.
| Capability | EDGEDEPTH | ATAS |
|---|---|---|
| Real order book in replay | Real Level 2, every pair, any tick from the last 30 days. | Real Level 2 replay reaches about 1 day back. Beyond that: real ticks with a generated book (about a week), or fully generated data. |
| Always-on capture | Server-side, every pair, 24/7. Missed the move? It is still there. | Replay depth is set by data type, not by what you did, but the real-book window is short. |
| Replay access | Free tier includes one fully archived 24-hour UTC day on 6 majors; Pro unlocks all 30 days. | Market Replay requires a paid plan (Plus and up). The free Start plan has none. |
| Markets | 660+ Binance USDT-M perps: crypto plus TradFi perps (US stocks, index, gold, oil), 24/7. | 8 crypto exchanges connected directly, plus CME and other TradFi feeds via paid connections (Rithmic, CQG, dxFeed and others). |
| Toolset focus | Order-flow essentials at speed: chart, DOM, tape, liquidation heatmap, VPIN. | The largest footprint/cluster toolset around: hundreds of footprint variations, volume analysis, Smart DOM, Smart Tape. |
| Price | Live terminal free. Pro $199/yr (about $16.58/mo) or $29/mo. Pro is currently available by Bitcoin. Card payments are planned. Founder pricing. | Free Start plan (no replay) · paid plans EUR 19.95 to 49.95/mo billed annually (EUR 24.95 to 89.95 monthly). |
| Install | Runs in your browser on any OS. | Windows desktop; a cross-platform ATAS X is in beta. |

When ATAS is the better choice.
ATAS has spent over a decade building the deepest footprint toolset in retail trading, and for some methods that toolset is the whole game.
- +Footprint and cluster analysis: hundreds of chart variations, cluster search, volume profiles, Smart DOM and Smart Tape.
- +CME and other TradFi futures via established feed connections, with live trading.
- +A large education ecosystem and indicator marketplace grown around the platform.
When EdgeDepth is the better choice.
If replay is why you are shopping, the window is the spec that matters, and one day of real book is not enough to train on.
- >The real recorded book, 30 days back, on every one of 660+ pairs. Nothing generated.
- >1,800+ archived events replay permanently, from squeezes to depegs, exactly as they printed.
- >Browser-based on any OS: no Windows requirement, no install.
- >A free tier that includes replay, and a Pro price below ATAS annual plans.
Train on the real book.
ATAS vs EdgeDepth, plainly.
How far back can ATAS replay the real order book?
Per ATAS documentation, replay with real Level 2 market depth reaches about 1 day back. Real ticks with a generated book cover about a week, and generated data is unlimited. EdgeDepth replays the real recorded book on every pair, 30 days back.
Is a generated order book good enough for practice?
For testing an indicator, maybe. For training your read of order flow, no: a synthetic book cannot reproduce the pulled bids, spoofed walls and absorption that made the real move tradeable. That behavior is exactly what EdgeDepth records and replays.
What is ATAS better at?
Footprint and volume analysis. ATAS ships hundreds of footprint variations, deep cluster search and volume profile tooling, plus CME connectivity for TradFi futures. If your method is built on footprint charts, ATAS is a fine home for it.
How do the prices compare?
ATAS replay needs a paid plan: EUR 19.95 to 49.95 per month billed annually, or EUR 24.95 to 89.95 monthly. The EdgeDepth live terminal is free, and Pro (the full 30-day window plus 1,800+ archived events) is $199/yr (about $16.58/mo) or $29/mo. Pro is currently available by Bitcoin. Card payments are planned. Founder pricing.
