How to read it, with examples
How to read it
This is a state, not a strength score. A double or triple bottom is two or three lows at about the same price, a rally between them, and a daily close above that rally's high (the neckline). broke holds from that close until the next daily close; the readings beside it (kind, days between the bottoms, distance to the neckline and to the bottoms) describe the same pattern for 30 days. The detector looks back up to 1,200 days, so the state is absent, never none, until the market's daily history is long enough or starts at its listing.
Count what followed confirmed bottoms (broke), wide ones (add days between the bottoms of 20 or more), or retests of the neckline in the days after, and compare them with the same markets on days without a bottom.
What it does not prove
A confirmed bottom is not a buy signal. Wide daily bottoms reached their target before their low 8.4 points more often than ordinary days, but only about 0.2 since mid-2022.
More limits
In that research, wide means 20 or more days between the bottoms, the target is the measured move above the neckline, and the 8.4 points came from spot history the detector was not tuned on; forward tests run to 2028. Daily candles are UTC days built from the recorded trades; a day counts only if trades printed in its first and last hour. Hourly and four-hour bottoms are not part of this reading (in the research they carried about 2 points over ordinary hours). A market relisted after a long gap, or listed after the latest release, reads absent until its history is complete.
Technical details
Registry definition
Whether the daily candle that just closed confirmed a double or triple bottom: broke from that close (UTC midnight) until the next daily close, none otherwise. The pattern is confirmed when a close clears its neckline. Absent until the market's daily history is complete for the detector, so none is never claimed on a short history.
Engine note
Recorded only: the detector is seeded from history before the record, which the live feed does not carry, so this reading has no live value and an alert on it is refused.
